A Paradigm to Support the Synthesis of Geometric Libraries through Freehand Sketching by Diarmaid Lane and Niall Seery, University of Limerick, Ireland
The aim of the workshop is to develop both participant’s appreciation of and ability to utilise freehand sketching as a support tool for visual thinking. Participants will be immersed within a set of novel sketching based activities which will explore the potential of sketching in aiding visualisation, problem solving and the communication of design ideas. The workshop is designed so that it will embrace the values and interests of the Engineering Design Graphics Division in addition to providing indicators for the future role of freehand sketching within the area.

PARTsolutions Product Suite by Tim Thomas, PARTsolutions LLC
This workshop will take a deeper dive on the message of the Tuesday Keynote address " "Engineering Design: The Paradigm Shift". The attendee will receive a firsthand look at enhanced design methodologies using both web based content portals, as well as integrated content applications within any CAD application. The workshop focuses on how non-value added design has been streamlined or eliminated in such a way that value added design becomes the focus for new product development, shrinking costs and time to market. Upon completion of the workshop, the attendee will be well positioned in teaching students an innovative way to bring practical learning to their education, as well their future employer. The benefit to the teaching institution will be the credentials necessary to deliver this new design approach in the classroom. For more information, see: www.partsolutions.com |
